The outer shell of the pan is made of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic for strength and resistance to impact and abrasions. Refrigerant gel inside the shell can keep food under 40 degrees F for up to 8 hours when the pan is stored in a freezer overnight. The gel is enclosed in a bag to help prevent leaks and is surrounded by a layer of insulation for cold retention. The food pan measures 20.68 x 12.72 x 6.40 inches on the outside and 17.70 x 9.74 x 5.78 inches on the inside (L x W x H).
